Why blame Jade Goody for the "sickeningly hypocritical gutter press"

Surely you should be blaming the proprietors, editors, journalists and most of all, the readers?

I would have thought referring to the gutter press as sickeningly hypocritical and the general public as idiotic and fickle would have given a clue to where I am apportioning any blame that is due

She's just a product, nothing more than a battery chicken, packaged up and sold for easy consumption to the drama-hungry public, a malleable and easy target by virtue of her stupidity for whatever they decide she should be, whether its a subject of derision, ridicule, outrage, laughter, sympathy, whatever the flavour of the minute/hour/day is at the time.

And what the public seem to miss when saying how 'clever' she is to have made millions from her tacky endorsements and product launches, is how many multi-multi-millions the people pulling the strings in the media, the agents, the publicists, the advertisers, the proprieters are coining in by ruthlessly exploiting the public's misguided goodwill. The whole thing is just a bizarre circus of the inane, but there we go.

Fair comment - I withdraw any possible suggestion of criticism . . . of you

I'm not saying all of it I'm going on schools here and from what I understand oxford also, schools never taught girls about how important smears are and explain what happens etc.
Of course there is the new jab for girls at school and I have also heard that ever since Jade announced her cancer battle the schools here started giving out a lot of info on cervical cancer and smears

I am bemused by it all, why did the sun run a 10 page speical, for money or because they care.

She was talentless and a racist, she was made into a car crash reality star, what I want to know is who are the women and men of this country buying magazine with such crap in it, go buy a historical magazine or a hobby magazine, society has gone down hill since these celeb mags became so powerful.

Exactly. Britain is becoming one big council estate.

What we need to do is put Al Murray in charge

As you copied the above from a Facebook post, I'm assuming that you can not only substantiate the claimed 2% figure and can also enlighten us with the amount that all of these extra tests will cost the NHS?
While the figures suggest that only somewhere in the region of 50 cases per year affect under 25 year olds, they are also misleading. There are far more women who contract the condition after 25 but wouldn't have if they had been screened when they were younger.....ie under 25.

FYI, women from the age of 20 are still able to be checked out for Cervical cancer in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.....and England did the same until the rules were changed in 2003.....for reference, it was NOT changed due to cost issues.

While I completely agree with the sentiment behind your post, I should add that this is exactly the sort of decision that NICE has to make many, many times each year.
