Yup, there's a Redsn0w 4 already though I'm not sure it's out in the wild yet for non-devs. That might only help with already-jailbroken phones, but that's OK if you've got one.

I think i've decided to say no, a)I cant afford it, and b) as much as I like the phone, I still have this irrational thing about not wanting phones everyone has.
My contract is up on the 12th of next month, have been and had a play about with a HTC, and am leaning towards that right now. |

If I'm completely honest I did look at a HTC. I hate that the iPhone costs £xxx to buy, that o2 want to charge me £xx for tethering and that I have to jailbreak just to get custom SMS/email tones. Little things. But then I think that switching to Android would be like switching to Linux. Have to find replacements for all my daily apps. There are some that I just couldn't do without. So yes its expensive but I know its the right decision.

I'm used to nokia's (pretty much all my phones bar one have been nokia) so I do need to go and have another play with the phone, but from what the bloke was showing me, it did look pretty good.

I love mine knips (it's a Desire). Would certainly recommend it to anyone, but I do take pete's point about replacing apps you know and love.

Only that if you've had an iphone for a while and have some great apps you use every day, it can be annoying to switch and find new ones that might not work in the same way as your old apps. If you've not had an iphone (or any other phone where apps are a big thing) before then it's not an issue as you'll be coming at it fresh.

Not just the apps (probably spent £100 on mine now - most of that was on CoPilot), but the accessories (case excluded because obviously that won't fit), the time you've spent getting all your music into iTunes, and so on.
I used to have the 'not what everyone else has' fear too. That's why I kept getting Motorola phones. Thank god I saw the light, though I went HTC before getting the iPhone. Both iPhone and HTC/Android are cracking options. Unlikely you'll have any major gripes with either (service provider incompetence aside). |

Having said that, I did go against it once and got a K800i when everybody and their dog had one - and I'm glad I did, it was and still is a cracking phone.
