how long did the port take?
I received my PAC today and emailed all my details to O2. I've not heard back from them yet so just wondered what kind of time frame I'm looking at. |

Longer than it was meant to. It was supposed to be finished by 6pm on Wednesday but it completed around 3pm on Thursday.
It wasn't O2's fault though - Vodafone had problems with their automated systems that disconnect numbers from their network so calls to my number went to Vodafone rather than O2. As far as hearing from O2 goes, I got my PAC on a Saturday morning and sent it off to O2. The following morning I had a text (on my Vodafone phone) saying what day they would do the port and on that day got another text (again on my Vodafone phone) saying that the port should be completed by 6pm. |

Fingers crossed!
What will probably happen is that on Wednesday morning when you dial out from your iPhone the call will come from the number you're porting but the same is true of your Orange (I think?) phone so it'll appear that both phones share the same number. At some point in the day when you dial into the porting number it'll switch from going to the Orange phone and go to the iPhone. Call the number occasionally and see what happens. A while after that happens the Orange phone will get disconnected from the Orange network. Job done! |

love it. not even (that) bothered about the fact it looks like the Pre will be around this month rather than September.
with the 3Gs and the 3.0 software release the iPhone is now what I need in a phone. back with the original phone, and even the 3G running 2.0 it wasn't enough to tempt me (hence 18 months back I got my TyTNII). But I really like this handset, just does everything, without any issues. |
