I understand why they are necessary, it's fair. However, the board have stipulated that no offices, no matter how many people work in it, are allowed to have any music/radio playing. On the "shop floor" ipods etc. aren't allowed as they will cause a H&S issue (not hearing an alarm, forklift etc...). In private offices, I'm sure some people will listen to ipods though.

The reason it's irrational, is that it's now killed the work force and in my opinion productivity (well actually I have the KPIs to prove it). For the sake of a few £k I think it would be worth it's weight in gold!

This is not irrational....... looking at PC storage units that have a section to store the tower. They give the dimension of the whole unit but not for the section that houses the tower! Grrrr
