I agree with Johny on the Bridesmaid front. Some of the jokes were hilarious and then others were just cringe worthy! But it did have a good plot and it kept me interested the whole way through.
So I would say about 7/10 Also went and saw Pirates of the Caribbean last night. It was pretty good. I wouldn't say it was the best so far, but then I thought the previous films were very good. It still had all the action and interest but it just seemed to have a little something missing. I think the second half was better than the first half, just seemed abit slow to start off with. Would give it 8/10. Don't regret seeing it in the cinema.

Pandorum
Two astronauts (Dennis Quaid and Ben Foster) awaken in a hyper-sleep chamber aboard a seemingly abandoned spacecraft. It's pitch black, they are disoriented, and the only sound is a low rumble and creak from the belly of the ship. They can't remember anything. Who are they? What is their mission? With Lt. Payton staying behind to guide him via radio transmitter, Cpl. Bower ventures deep into the ship and begins to uncover a terrifying reality. Slowly the spacecraft's shocking, deadly secrets are revealed, and the astronauts find their own survival is more important than they could ever have imagined. 3/10 To say it is a rubbish start is an under statement, took me three attempts to watch it. It does get better and I actually like the ending. But its still a terrible film and worth avoiding.

Hot Tub Time Machine.
Meh. What happened to the good films that John Cusack used to do. Very silly, extrordinarilly obvious and not overly funny. 5/10 The Social Network Hmmm, not entirely sure about it. Acting fine, script fine, but didn't grab me at all. 6/10

Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
Forty years ago, Harriet Vanger disappeared from a family gathering on the island owned and inhabited by the powerful Vanger clan. Her body was never found, yet her uncle is convinced it was murder and that the killer is a member of his own tightly knit but dysfunctional family. He employs disgraced financial journalist Mikael Blomkvist and the tattooed, ruthless computer hacker Lisbeth Salander to investigate. When the pair link Harriet’s disappearance to a number of grotesque murders from almost forty years ago, they begin to unravel a dark and appalling family history. But the Vangers are a secretive clan, and Blomkvist and Salander are about to find out just how far they are prepared to go to protect themselves. Based on the trilogy of books by Stieg Larsson, to be followed by 'THE GIRL WHO PLAYED WITH FIRE'and 'THE GIRL WHO KICKED THE HORNETS NEST'. 9/10 Absolutely brilliant film, got the English dubbed version. Can't wait to see the other two films. So glad they did a dubbed edition, much better than subtitled IMO. Although it does look like Hollywood are doing a remake, let me guess it'll suck in comparison.

Enjoyed this more than I thought I would, more than 'Taken' in fact which seems to be the opposite of what most other people have said. Pretty consistent all the way through, entertaining action thriller. Bruno Ganz was excellent as usual but felt that Frank Langella despite being good was miscast. 7/10 Black Swan Definitely a Marmite sort of film I feel. Fortunately for me I really liked it. Some of the scenes were uncomfortable to watch but I thought that it added to the film. As Pheebs had said previously I thought the sex scenes fitted into the film well, I could see why they were there. Impressed by the acting from everyone in this. Barbara Hershey though needs to stop doing stuff to her face, I found her quite distracting! 8/10 |

I am you
Film about a teenage girl who has gone missing (based on a true story) and her parents search to find her. Its not as straightforward as that but if I said much more it would give the plot away. 7/10 disturbing (more because it actually happened) Trust Teenager who is seduced online by a boy (turns out to be a man) she thinks is her age. Trying to show the dangers of people not knowing who they are really talking to online. Quite dark but still good performances from particularly the young actress playing Annie, and also her Dad (Clive Owen) 8/10 Again disturbing, but well acted. I think I need to watch some happy films, I seem to keep watching dark, depressing ones! |
