The concept was a good one but obviously full of holes. My main one being... Spoiler Alert! - Highlight below to read! Why on earth would such a system be engineered so that two people could exchange time directly, with all the potential for crime and abuse that engenders. Transfers between people would obviously be allowed, but would be controlled. End Spoiler Alert!

Oh, forgot - saw a freebie of Coriolanus. It's hard to describe but a very brave concept - one which I think people will either love or hate. It's the epic Shakespeare power struggle set in modern times but using the Shakespearian dialogue. Very powerful once you can get your head around the language, but make sure you know what you're watching before you go. Voldemort is brilliant in it, Gerard Butler is good but seems a little under-utilised somehow, and Vanessa Redgrave is an amazing matriarchal figure. One of the strongest performances I've seen her put in. Oh, and Jimmy Nesbit is in it as well, really annoying character, played very well.
So yeah. It's a bit like watching a play at the theatre but up on the big screen. Hard to give it a rating really because it's so unlike most 'normal' films.

I'm afraid I'm a bit of a phillistine when it comes to these. I either like it set in it's original (or near to original time) with the language intact or set present day with the language modernised. I would like either but find the setting it in present day but with the old language is just jarring to me.
I guess each person is different, but I heard Ralph Fiennes saying he wanted to bring it into a modern setting so people could relate to it. But I think what makes it hard for many people to relate to it is the language, not the setting. I'm sure it's a good film and I love Redgrave, but pesonally I prefer it when they make the choice and either go traditional or modern and not try to go traditional/modern. |

I'd agree Mubs. While there was a lot good about it, that's why I can't give it a mark because I just didn't think it fit. It should be one or the other. It is very clever though and I am glad I watched it, but I can't say that I'd recommend it. Tough one.

Solomon Kane
Starring
6/10 It's not terrible, it's not great but it's fairly decent action fodder for you to switch off your brain to and watch as the titular character lays waste to near armies of men and magical beings. You'll probably notice Pete Postlethwaite, Max Von Sydow, Mackenzie Crook and Jason Flemyng in there amongst a few other reasonably well known actors and actresses and wonder why they were signed up for it as with the best will in the world it's not the most demanding of roles for any of them. Dangerous Minds Starring
7/10 It's probably a bit too clumsily sentimental to be a great film but it's well acted for the most part with a good story. I'm sure I've watched a few more films since I last posted but can't remember them offhand.
