That said I suspect I'm in a minority with my views on the book and so it may prove with the film too.

I've heard a lot of people say they disliked the book, especially the ending. I've never got round to it but am reading it now after seeing the film and am as yet undecided as to which I prefer. The book, 20% or so in certainly lacks some of the warmth & humour of the film. Have spoken to several people who have seen film & read book yet preferred the film which is quite unusual.
necroedit: Unusually, definitely preferred the film!

I'm a bit behind everyone on this one.... Despicable Me
The evilness was delicious at times, but it remained family friendly. While watching I kept thinking that if they made Evil Genius into a film, it would be just like this Ok, so the plot could be guessed but it was a good laugh throughout. I would say 8.5/10. It almost seemed too short, but it was a kids film at heart |

The Day the Earth Stood Still.
Remake of epic 1950's Sci Fi classic "starring" Keanu Reeves. As far as I can tell, the Earth never stood still. KR was as wooden as ever, but as he was playing an alien in a human body, we can kind of forgive him. 4/10 Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. RDJ and Jude Law return as Holmes and Watson. Jared Harris is excellent as Moriarty as is Stephen Fry as Mycroft. 8/10

Skyfall.
Simple and uncomplicated plot, Daniel Craig playing Bond just how he's written in the books. Bit of nostalgia. Fantastic!

Resurrection time.. Kari and Naia have been in Virginia for the last week or so so I've had the time to watch some films.
Chronicle Unmitigated tosh. Acting is reasonable, special FX good. Plot crap. Coming of age(ish) film with superpowers. Utterly predictable. Prometheus Great potential, totally wasted. Wayland Corporation's philosophy seems to be to hire the stupidest scientists imaginable, and give them lots of resources to shoot themselves in the foot with, hoping to make a profit from it somehow. Beautiful cinematography, reasonable acting. Spoiler Alert! - Highlight below to read! The rolling stone ball on Indiana Jones worked because there was no where for Indy to run but away from the ball in the same direction it was rolling. If it's a circular space-ship rolling along a rocky plains and you don't run to the side, you're arguably too stupid to live and deserve to be crushed by it End Spoiler Alert! Looper Excellent film, interesting idea well executed. Great acting from Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
