I don't think there's a contradiction in what everyone's saying, just that Faraday is (was) so much smarter than everyone else, well at least when it came to quantum theory! The general assumption is that nothing can be changed; what's happened, happened, and will always happen. However, if Faraday has a theory that this is wrong then maybe there is a chance. What the consequences of this are are unknown. When he first mentioned variables and said that there was a chance they could stop all of it ever happening, that was the first time I saw light at the end of the tunnel for the program. The best ending I could hope for in that instance is that they stop the plane from crashing and we get a final episode which ends with no-one knowing each other and all the people that perished walking about like nothing happened.... but all with a strange deja vu-like feeling. The twist could be that an entirely separate disaster happens and they're thrown together again, destined to 'fix' time in various parallel universes forever. Or something. End Spoiler Alert!

Am i the only one that's worried that the next season will be all about setting up the nuke and detonating it with the series then ending with 'none of it happens anymore because they changed history'. I HATE it when that sort of thing happens as it makes it all seem pointless. End Spoiler Alert!

A generic 'and it was all a dream' type ending wouldn't be satisfying for sure. Funny you should mention about another disaster Belmit - did anybody play and finish the Lost game? ***spoiler in a spoiler - Lost game ending *** You character crashes on the island with everyone else, has his journey then escapes the island on a boat. All happy, but as he's leaving, he witnesses what appears to be the plane crashing again (this could now be explained by the time phenomenon Faraday introduced last series). He blacks out, wakes up back on the beach just after the crash but this time, the woman he loves - who he thought was dead - is with him, surviving the same crash (I'm not 100% sure but if I remember in the previous 'reality' she was killed before well before the flight, and was not on the plane). *** end inner spoil *** It certainly seems feasible anyway. The destiny of these people is nothing to do with the hatch, the others, the bomb or anything else - they are simply destined to live on/protect/destroy this island forever..... Or something. /scratches head End Spoiler Alert!

Didn't enjoy that season ending. Well, that's a lie, it was entertaining, but nowhere near as satisfying as the last season end. Equally infuriating though To be fair I suppose they need a couple of really big cliff hangers going into the home stretch.
Couple of questions: Spoiler Alert! - Highlight below to read! Was everyone else assuming up until last night that Jack's dad was Jacob? Also, when and who last saw Jack's dad and Claire? It wasn't one of the original survivors I just cant remember who. Nice touch seeing Rose and Bernard again! End Spoiler Alert!

"Was everyone else assuming up until last night that Jack's dad was Jacob?" Pretty much! At least we're finally seeing something hinting towards the origins of Black Rock, which has been the biggest mystery for me so far. I'm sure it plays a major part somehow. "Also, when and who last saw Jack's dad and Claire? It wasn't one of the original survivors I just cant remember who." It was someone who went to the shack wasn't it? Was sure it was someone who knew Claire though. "Nice touch seeing Rose and Bernard again!" I hate those guys! Almost as much as I hate 'Phil' who got despatched nicely this episode. Most annoying character at the moment though is the beardy bespectacled Dharma guy who's just perpetually angry. He needs a good slap in the next series. End Spoiler Alert!
