Not at all mate, I was just concerned that it had arrived faulty, glad to here it was OK for a while, I hear a few names batted about with regard to Canon repair, but I can't think of any which are near you when you're in Newcastle.

If you do decide to trade up the 40D is excellent, I'mm very pleased with mine now I have one in A1 condition

I've had a look on the Canon website and the nearest authorised place is in Glasgow. I haven't been to Glasgow for a while so I might take a trip up there when I want to get it repaired. I'm going up to Shetland in August so I might book my flight to Shetland from Glasgow and kill two birds with one stone - with a bit of luck, it'll be ready to pick up when I'm on my way home.

I've seen many excellent comments made about the 40D - with some people claiming it's a better camera than the more expensive 50D so I'm already pretty sure that's what I'll be going with.

Its not so much a better camera, the 50D has some advanntages including a larger pixel count, video funtionality and lens micro adjustment however to get the best out of it you need good glass and unlike the 40D which will tolerate cheaper glass the 50D won't so if you want one to perform you have to make sure your using top notch lenses. Its also a lot more expensive so the 40D is still dominating the market. I'm glad I got mine it was worth every penny, its not a million miles away from the *00D series but there are just some things which make it a nicer tool to use, including the body size and construction and the rear wheel, I'd highly recomennd one

What MB said. Read the same in reviews too.

I have to admit I'd have appreciated having the rear wheel on mine (450D), but otherwise I'm happy with it. Could (and should) have got it cheaper but whatever.

Did much the same with my 70-200 F4 IS - £500 after cashback from Kerso with the advantageous exchange rate. They're £900+ to buy now!
