The Pirate Party and Pirate Bay have absolutely no link other than a similar word in the name.

Pirate Bay have won no seats in anything other than prison recently

If anything I hope this BNP result will encourage those who didn't vote to get their registrations sorted and their boxes ticked.

I don't necessarily agree with the idea of voting for 'anything but them' but such low voter turn-outs result in a governing body non-representative of the nation.

This is quite a good article about the result: http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisf...p-nick-griffin

I think when general election time rolls around the BNP will go the way of UKIP and see their support dry up. People seem to see the general election as affecting them more than either the local or European elections do, and therefore are less likely to register a protest vote (although I'm not discounting the fact that some people genuinely support the BNP). It's a shame, though, because it seems there's much more clear water between the main parties when it comes to Europe than on most national issues, at least up until recently.

If I'm right 1 Million people voted for the BNP, Now if that is true then that means there are 1 Million people in this country that are so Pissed off they voted for the most extreme party they could, That in itself is a Massive wake up call to the Thinkers of the country.

Personally I am in two minds about this,
On the one hand I am quite pleased because it indicates Massive dissatisfaction from a very large sector of our Society & should at least shake things up a bit.
On the other hand though I am dissapointed in our Leaders for letting things get this bad.

I'm not the brightest spanner in the box & don't know to much about the ins & outs of the Political arena but i do know that Challenges to Democracy are what strengthens it.

point still stands, it's hardly a problem. The bnp got exactly the same vote in the local elections as they got last time, it's a non-issue
