No seriously, I may take you up on that. I'll try the 7-zip and wait for a resonse from Nero.. they got back to me asking for a few screen dumps. If nothing happens by the end of this week is that ok for you to have a try? I know you're on your travels soon but there is no rush.

Fine with me. I sod off to Phoenix on the 13th, back on Saturday 28th then off to Japan on the 31st so I'll have a bit of time to play about with it.

Daz, 7-Zip didn't work.. it just launched the Nero Restore program and i get the same problem.

Sorry to say it, but I don't think the backup worked properly. You've ended up with a 10meg backup file but according to Nero BackItUp there was 32.68Gb backed up in the first place.

I think you're beign told that there are files missing from the backup because they weren't backed up in the first place

It seems it was just header information in the backup file and none of your actual files.

From what I can make out there should be 2 files, nci and nco, with nco actually containing the compressed data. The nci is possibly some sort of index, and may not be needed for a restore.

I was just about to say the same sort of thing. I did a test backup and ended up with an nbi and an nco. Without the nco I got the same error as Huddy.
