I can do that?! I wouldn't have to buy them again? I got them via CD though. Does that mean I can only install them from the CD or can I get them from Steam?

... if you purchase the Orange Box but already have HL2 and Ep1 you can choose to give these to somebody else as a gift.
You can't not buy them as part of the box, but at least they're not wasted.

Also, getting Ep2, TF2, and Portal looks like a pretty good deal to me.

And on the subject of Ep1, it's definitely worth it - it's excellent. Better than HL2, even though it is so short.
