yes, I agree. It's the ultimate justification when talking about all art forms - that's kinda stating the obvious. The point I was making was that wasn't Blackstar's justification, not even by a long shot, which was why I was confused. "I don't like him" is always perfectly viable, and I would never enter a debate over that - if you read over her post again, you'll see why I did. 'No real talent' (statement of fact, not a matter of opinion), 'funny noises' (what Bill Bailey is pretty much famous for), 'rude comments' (what Billy Connolly is famous for).

Bill Bailey (who i have seen live) is all about the 'silly noises', Ross Nobel (who i have also seen live) makes his money from playing up, making a big deal out of his appearance, and his accent (as does Brand) - and Billy Connelly, does he go 3 minutes without making a rude or obscene joke? comedy isn't about what is 'likeable' - it about what individuals find funny - you don't like him, fair enough. there are people who have become far more famous, for doing far less - if you're going to hold anything against him, it shouldn't be that!! :P |

Ok i don't like him. Happy? ffs in my opinion it is Brand's way of doing such things (silly noises etc) that i don't like, i don;t find him funny as i have said i have spent a lot of time around comedians and i know what i find funny. Thus personal taste.
As for likable, i find both Bill Bailey and Ross Noble funny but i find BB more likable so would see him in preference. Again i find this important, obviously you disagree. |

Jesus christ, just because someone doesn't agree with you or maybe is putting things across the way that doesn't make sense to you there is no need to rip that person to pieces as I have seen happen above.
I find it very distasteful. Last edited by Piggymon; 25-10-2007 at 07:37. |

All this because i thought to put more than just that i didn't like him and that it was his personal take of the classic comedy (which you so eloquently pointed out i do enjoy,) that makes me dislike him. True i possibly didn't portray my side of the argument well but there was no need for that kind of behaviour. Last edited by Blackstar; 25-10-2007 at 08:16. |
