Thanks all.

The bed sorted me a bit, then I decided to stop feeling sorry for myself and get out there in the big wide world.

Typically I don't do anything special - it's just a normal day but with a few cards to open. Usually spent at home.

So, with that in mind, I decided that for a nice change of scenery this year I'd try al fresco dining at the local pub. Still on my own sadly but at least the food was nice.

All this has put me in the mood to consider what to do for my 40th. Something special seems like the correct answer, and BD will be invited. Somehow.

I'm not a beer drinker, remember.

Though I have recently added Whisky to the list of things I've tried (not sure I'd try it again mind, time will tell), so you never know.
