It does feel quite consoley (not surprising as that's the primary format for almost all games now), but that doesn't bother me because I'm playing on a console.
It's also one of the best looking games I've ever seen, everyone should experience the daylight system in it. |

lol, I've encountered a lot of those bar the animals dying. I've hit them full-tilt and they don't die.
However that list started to lose satire and just became a hating on the game which is undue. |

I am sounding negative recently, however I've installed this finally and thought to give it a go. It looks damn good, simple things like crouching in the fields, the fire spreading and changing from night to day.
However gameplay wise I'm finding it boring. The AI is damn weird as well as everyone has commented. They can hit you with a shotgun across a valley from the other end of a bridge! There are a lot of issues, one being a lack of interaction so you don't feel involved. You speak to a guy for a mission and then do not speak to anyone until you complete the mission. This is something I was looking forward to as the vids looked great and reviews were good. It seems I'm not the only one having read this thread and OCUK. |

Started playing this a few weeks back. FarCry 2 is a beautiful, seamless, and ground breaking FPS game but is it me or are the missions a little lame and pointless? I've just spent an hour driving around vast landscapes doing free favors for a South African mercenary but for what reason? After I rescued his sorry arse from a plane crash he then says "thanks now piss off"... in no uncertain terms. Then I have no mission apart from go and find a mission.. What game have you ever played where you have no missions or a mission to find one?? That's just daft as a loo brush. Anyway, I take advantage of this by taking missions from the gun shop in order to obtain weapon upgrades. You can only do this when you have no missions. What got me in stitches is that the mini missions involve destroying a competitors shipment convoy but all these convoys go round and round in the same circles.. haha
Another thing that has bugged me a little is all your effort taken to scout for and capturing points, is reward to return 5 minutes later with all the enemies you destroyed re-spawned like the living dead?? Whilst on this subject, how come they know I’m an enemy? I could be the Snax-Wagon? This is such a gorgeous game though, but after the first hours, who actually notices the high def graphics and all the eye candy detail once you're blasting your way round the map? For those that think game play isn't important, you're wrong. Portal was one of the biggest games in 2007 because of it's pure intuitive and original game play. Lessons to be learnt?

You say it's ground breaking and then trash it

I'm running the PC version of FC2, and engine wise, it's superb. The fire effects are the best I've seen in a game. With everything turned up it chugs a little, but looks wonderful. The ability to destroy the ammo crates is a nice touch, with the explosive one going up with an almighty boom, and the rounds cooking in the others. The rocket behaviour of the gas cylinders is another great thing to watch.
But, it's the gameplay that lets it down. Why have safe houses where you can save your game... and then also allow you to save anywhere you want? As stated earlier in this thread, the enemies accuracy with weapons is rediculous, the re-spawn... Oh the respawn Oh, and how come their trucks are faster than mine? So I can't outrun them The missions are go here, kill this person or get this item, and come back. Thats it - no variation at all really. Once you have the dart gun, the MP5SD and the M79, it all becomes a little easy too. Nice try, but falls down on the gameplay sadly.
