It's great fun but quite difficult to solo on the hardened/veteran levels... Desmo & I have racked up a few stars here and there, with a couple of hardened stars and a veteran on the snowmobile
We were quick to find out that charging in guns blazing is not the best way forward on most of these though... nor is our now classic tactic of [cockney]"I'm going to knife the slag"[/cockney]

That's fair enough - I think a game with such huge anticipation is always going to be a 'disapointment' to some.
Also I think that people like Haly (who have much more extensive gaming experience) will have experienced most of what the gaming world has to offer, and so might not appreciate the 'upgraded experience' as much as me- someone who plays alot less and sees the updates and upgrades in large chunks rather than a gradient.

Abooie's played a hell of a lot of games too And I wasn't anticipating MW2 much, went into it quite neutral really.
I just don't think it's really as great as all the reviews suggest it is. It's certainly enjoyable but to me it's not a game that anyone will remember for years to come, unlike the previous Modern Warfare game. That's regarding the single player. I haven't played the multiplayer much yet and I wouldn't consider myself a good judge of it anyhow as I'm not a big multiplayer gamer. Much prefer games with strong single player narratives, something that MW2 lacks imo. Sure it might all be about the MP these days but previous CoD games have managed to juggle a good, albeit short, storyline and a good multiplayer, so it's not much to expect the same of this one either.

Still don't have this game, I have no idea where the local Sainsbury's is as the store locator on the site is wrong and I very much doubt they'll have any copies in now. Was too late for the deal at Morrisons, as always, and I refuse to pay over £40 for this game. Gonna have to pray I get lucky and find it somewhere nice and cheap now

I'll keep my eyes peeled for you Wossi - if you promise to keep this thread strictly updated if you buy it, I'll pick you up a cheap copy if I see one and post it on.
Can't guarantee anything of course, but I'll keep an eye out as we're often in both morrisons and sainsbury

Thanks dude, since the cheapest I've found so far is Sainsbury,s as Morrisons have put the price up, I doubt I'll be buying it myself soon.

Just spent two hours playing spec ops at a mates and some of the SP campaign.
First thing - I wasn't aware STRAWBERRY JAM TO THE FACE was such a widely used warfare tactic but perhaps it should be as it's pretty effective at completely blinding you. I've never understood the blood effects on screen like that, though having never personally been shot I can't say for sure whether it does indeed cause your eyes to just fill with blood/jam. That was bordering on game ruining for me, so so so annoying. Spec Ops was fun enough, ran through a few missions on Vet, got a decent number of kills. Fun enough, though having to do it split screen is a bit fail, it's already bad enough the 360 renders at barely above SD resolution so having only half of that makes spotting hidden enemies pretty damn hard. The main campaign was ok though it kinda felt like 'set piece > run > shoot > run > set piece > run > shoot ....' and so on, it felt almost like the game was there just to link up the set pieces, rather than the set pieces were there to enhance the game. Tried MP but it kept just saying 'Looking for Good Game... 0/50' until eventually it said 1/50 on one attempt but still never actually joined a game, so I gave up on that and went back to SS Spec Op. Overall impression after 2 hours with the game - £10 purchase, nothing more. It's ok, I really don't see the hype though. edit - I suspect reconnecting to XBox Live might be an issue for PC players. Lazy lazy lazy.

Well I've just finished the SP and really really enjoyed it what a great ending Spoiler Alert! - Highlight below to read!
sets up number 3 perfectly End Spoiler Alert! Going to have a look at the special ops and then go back through on veteran and pick up all the rest of the achievements. It did take me around 5 minutes to work out how to drop the riot shield
