Speaking of which, Verizon have announced that they're working on a tablet with Google, that will be running Android (and presumably LTE too for 4G connectivity).

Don't think they said Android was poo. Think they said that tablet was poo.

Flash anyone? No thanks. HTML5 please. But I think we've done that point before now.

Any news on teh msi android yet and how it stacks up?

I think Ipad will be leaders for a couple of years. Apples UI on mobile products are just so slick, it took competitors on phones a good year or two to catch up.

So has Steve Jobs, but that doesn't mean an end to it. Rumour has it that Adobe were behind the DOJ probe of Apple's new requirement that developers may use only their tools. In any event, they're certainly ramping up the media. That's usually Apple's job.

PS - that's not to suggest that I disagree with their stance.

PPS - Archos, firmware issues? Surely not!

Of course theres no end to it yet but the current state is no Flash on iPhone/iPads and I'm ok with all that. Happy to just have HTML5 and to push things that way. I've always preferred HTML over Flash ever since it came out, as a developer not just a user.

Point was that I don't really want to go round in circles about Flash. Its not an option. Lets move on from discussing Flash vs HTML5 until something actually happens

it's not no flash. They have banned flash for 1` reason to sell games. pretty much all video sites you would want to use have IApps.

I've had mine since Friday now and i must say, i can't put it down. Even when i am at home, sitting in front of the imac with the ipad charging next to it i find myself playing with it - app store, early edition, etc. I am sure that will fade as I get it the way i want it but in terms of out of the house surfing, i have not seen anything like it.

I too have a netbook, HP 210, Atom 450, 2G RAM, Win7, with an 02 3G dongle. Compare to the ipad, that thing feels like its in the dark ages. It takes at least 3 minutes to power on to be online, where the iPad just always online, like the time it takes to get a signal on the phone, that's what it takes for the internet. Some reason the software for the dongle takes a lot longer.

It might be a lot of money for an gadget, and I do agree, nobody NEEDS an iPad, but hell, it is cool and fun to use.

Best of all, its tax deductible against my photography

That's pretty much the way I am with my Nexus One, which is my first smartphone.. I'm interested to see the way things progress longer term with this technology. I'm seeing an increasing number of "Meh... " comments from early adopters here, though not from those that have long been Apple fans. Not sure quite what to make of those that are less interested in it after having it for a little while, it's not clear whether it's because they're irritated with the operating environment, if they're finding it restrictive, isn't really all that useful in the end, or quite what.
