From what I'm beginning to see from those who are finding themselves bored with the iPad it's the consumer/creator thing that's tripping them up. They're used to devices that are both, and the iPad is "just" a consumer. It's interesting. I've a niggling feeling they'll get bored, forget about it for a while and then a killer app / content form will come along and the iPad will surge back into use for them.

This could be well true, but then for most people, the only thing they create are Facebook status updates, tweets, emails and forum posts. I for one don't do anymore than that even on my netbook or even pc. The only real product I make is from my camera with my iMac doing the processing. I do not and will not expect a portable device like this to match my iMac. But even that need js very specific, most people will just surf, period.

They generally seem to be people who have no use for it either. They don't surf on the couch whilst watching the tv, or have a job where they can use it for time killing.

Had a go on one the other day and it was simply amazing, teh screen is so nice. Right size as well. What I was most impressed with was teh book app. I would have no problem reading it for extended periods. it does not look liek a computer screen.
Wish I could afford one. I have bundles of time to kill at work and am nearly constantly surfing in front of the tv. Iphone screen is just to small to be comfortably.

There's some stunning artwork being produced with the drawing apps. Also some great music apps around. It is a mostly consumer device but with potential in there for random bits of interest.

I've been using my iphone to read books (app called Stanza) for over 18 months and I find that perfect (although Moby Dick is a bit of a struggle!). I wouldn't complain about a bigger screen for reading, but like the 'all in one' I already have...

I have been meaning to get off the sofa and get on my iMac to do some "proper" net surfing but Its been 3 hours now and i am still on the sofa with my iPad. This is not what i bought it for but it is tonight.....

I have also spent about 30 mins looking at the Pulse app, an rss reader basically but can link to basically any site and can display it with a image thumbnail. It is soooo slick, rss reading made easy.

This is the main page, you flick down for more "channels", each horizontal line is 1 feed, and flick sideways to see older posts, and when you do that, only THAT line is moving, the rest stays stationary on the page.

You can read the feed mostly text or like it on its original site, for example here. Depends if the feed or story you are reading is a text rich or photo rich content.

tap the bottom left (blue triangle) and the feed's thumbnail bar will pop up again.
