I don't understand why the extra weaponry and armour can't be used anyway?

well obv it can, but ive completed the game with that char, so cant really get much enjoyment from adapting the gameplay using new kit to tackle a range of quests. Will be better completing the expansion with my lower level char in terms of rewards.

Ah, you threw me there. I thought that if you did it at lvl 20 that you literally were unable to use the rewards .

I'm giving this another shot as I fancied a game with a strong story.
Any suggestions on how I can make my character a bit stronger/better at aiming/generally harder?

I know all the magic is that you can create your own build etc But I'd still like to know people's tactics. I'm just under level 10 and still a bit crap at kicking arse :/

Specifically pick perks at every level up that will benefit you, you can up your SPECIAL rating by 1pt at every level up too.

If you want to be good at killing, make sure your perception is pretty high (I think I put mine at 8), and just make sure you increase your Small Guns attribute as much as you can at each level. You'll obviously forego some other skills by doing this, but having a very high rating in Small Guns will allow you to inflict much more damage on enemies while they're still far away, ideal for any enemy or creature who has to get close to you to hurt you.

Feel free to put some points into Heavy Weapons as well if you like. The weaponry and ammo was more scarce, but believe me, you'll thank me when you come up against a Behemoth and you're carrying a Fat Man Nuke launcher

Thanks Not sure what my points are in at the moment as I've been playing in drips and drabs for a while.

Anywhere where I can find some decent equipment or does it not really work like that?

It doesn't really work like that. You'll generally find most of the better weapons near the start of the game, but they'll be in poor condition and without too much ammo. As you put more points into your repair skill (highly recommended) you can repair weapons by using another of the same type for spare parts. Repairing the weapon obviously makes it last longer, and also increases the damage it does.

One place I found to be quite good for ammo and weapons was a school north of Megaton. If you haven't got it on your map yet, go into Megaton and talk to the girl in the general shop who wants you to do the Wasteland Survival Guide. One of her tasks is to go and find some mines from a minefield. I left Megaton and started walking towards it and I basically walked straight into it. There were plenty of Raiders in there who were full of weaponry, ammo and armour to pilfer, after "convincing" them to give it to me

Thanks though I'll check my repair skill later.
