Today's annoyance, related to Syria.
The press banging on about our "special relationship" with America. What the bloody hell is special? The two countries usually agree on stuff, but why call it "special" just makes it sound like some kind of sodding romantic novel, or two countries with special needs! Plus the dramatics around us not agreeing with America - oh my god, how dare we have our own democratic vote and opinion! Poor Obama will be so upset! SHUT UP! And one more thing (which grates with me probably because of my skills/job around working with parents/children) us discussing going and bombing a country a week after something has happened. Yes it's wrong what they did, but bombing them a week later doesn't actually link the actions together. Bomb them right away maybe, but a week later? They're gonna know we're coming for starters because its all over the news, but also it isn't really a consequence of the behaviour due to the time lapse. I always tell parents, you either challenge the behaviour at the time, or the child doesn't link their behaviour with the consequences of it. Last edited by Knipples; 30-08-2013 at 11:20. |

We weren't going to be bombing them as a punishment, like reprimanding a child, the theory was to destroy chemical weapon stores/facilities to disable their ability to use them. That's besides the fact they're grown adults with a bit more reasoning ability than a child
(Even though in reality the likelihood is that soon thousands of innocent civilians will be 'protected' by being blown to smithereens by an array of US and French explosive devices that are launched indiscriminately all over Syria, which i'm sure they'll find much more agreeable than some sarin gas)

People who take up slightly more than one seat on the train, not through being hefty, but through being ****ers.
People complaining about Windows 8. It's slightly different, get over it!

All the fuss about Labour promising a '20 month price freeze'. It's either the best thing since sliced bread, or we're all doomed!
... except that I'm on a 20 month price freeze tariff right now, and I'm sure many others who took the time to shop around are too! |

My latest irrational thing is the warning beeper telling me my fridge door has been open for 2 minutes. I know this is a good thing to warn me if the door is accidentally left open but, I can't help shouting "I know the ****ing door is opening, I'm putting my shopping away"

Mine is that my arms aren't long enough when my bag is on my shoulder to reach into the bottom to get my keys when I'm trying to get in the door etc.
Very frustrating. |

When you message someone on Facebook and they don't reply to your message but update their status on FB/Twitter... I know I sometimes do this as I prefer to be at a keyboard to respond sometimes... but still that is why it's irrational.
People's response times after having kids... some people are rubbish due to 'baby brain' - GROAN... but I have friends with kids who take a bit longer - but usually do manage to respond within a day. I guess you need to expect a response within 24hours... I obviously don't have kids so have no idea. Then there's the person who will message you, you call them back and no answer (even though its urgent). /rant over BB x |

Mei - BOO HISS to them all! I severely hate the introduction to Emmerdale or EastEnders. Like... super wrath-find-the-remote-to-change-INSTANTLY! It even woke me up the other week despite the fact I had slept through everything else for over an hour with super jet lag! I was up like a bolt searching for the remote wide awake. I don't know what it is! Makes my teeth grindy! I'm not normally aware of it as I've not had tv in such a long time so I never have to hear it but recently at my folks house I catch it when cooking and rush out and turn it off!! URghgg! In Canada I also properly had a supreme dislike and annoyance for the Home and Hardware sign/logo. And A&W Burgers. It just sounds really like a lame name to call a burger joint. Reminded me of C&A! Stupid things really as they don't affect me but meh! |
