I know with my auctions, I'm never fussed if people collect. Usually easier anyhow.

I played COD4 single player through & ventured online a few times, Unfortunetly I had COD4 on PC before the xbox so it killed it for me. I've got GRAW 1 & 2 to play through at some time & I've messed around on R6V2, Of course I struggle but with my recent addiction to Forza2 the whole xbox controller experience is finally turning a corner, I feel ready for the next step

Grab the demo of Gears of War and have a play with that if you struggle - you might find a third person shooter a good middle ground until you can master the sticks

[edit]At least I think there's a Gears Demo.. not 100% sure now I think about it :S
