I've got my strawberries in a hanging basket. They look very happy. Tomatoes will also be going in a hanging basket as they did really badly last year in a grow bag. My potato tops are just about to pop through the surface and my salad leaves are growing. Looking forward to not spending a fortune on bought rocket this year My rasperry bush that I bought last year has also grown tonnes, so I'm hoping for a bumper crop I have runner beans doing very well, which will be ready to go out next week and my peppers are finally coming through.

Herbwise, I cut the hell out of my rosemary & thyme because they were looking a bit ropey and they've sprouted some lovely fresh new shoots. Also have marjoram, chives, parsley, fennel (2 types) & doing very well and have planted dill, oregano & tarragon to add to my collection. The dill is unlikely to be back next year because it's not very hardy, but everything else should be

Jonny - cut the rosemary right back to its lowest shoots and it'll sprout again. Takes a while, but it'll happen My basil took about 3 weeks to come through. Thought it had failed.

Bought myself a Fork/Spade & rake All stainless & worth every penny, Using the fork is loads easier as mud doesn't stick to it at all so it slides in & when you lift it out you are only lifting the fork rather than a ton of wet mud.
Makes a difference having a nice fork/spade. Mine are my Mum's cast offs. The spade is very small and the fork is all bent. Could do with some new ones really... maybe next year

Very impressive stuff!

I've just planted some green squash seeds and carrot seeds, and I've got 9 chilli plants that are progressing nicely. The chive and rosemary plants are going okay, but my courgette got decimated by a slug / snail. Not sure if it's going to make it.

Hows everyone getting on this year.. The weather down south has been very dry and a lot of my seeds have taken an age to come up if at all.

Parsnips are a little thin so I have sown some more... this will be the last chance so if these don't come up I'll be

The beetroot this year has also been poor.. not sure if the seeds were not great (left over from last year), but there is plenty of time left for them so sowing them in succession.. another lot in tonight and the gaps filled.

Last section dug over ready for the brassicas to go in at the weekend.

I'm past 6 weeks now since I planted my pepper and chilli seeds and they are still not showing! Fingers crossed they will appear soon other wise I'll have to get some plants.

The little one is having a go at Pumpkin this year, wants to carve a home grown one this Halloween.

Another first for this year is Cantaloupe melon, seeds have germinated, which is great as they are not easy to germinate. Need to fix up some sort of cold frame to put over them when they go into the ground so that they get the heat required.

What's everyone growing this year?

AcidHell did you get your plots dug and sorted?

Kate how is your Raspberries this year... plenty more I'm sure, I moved mine a they were in a silly place on my plot.. think I may have left it too late though as they are not growing yet... they are Autumns so I might be surprised with some June/July growth. But I have resigned myself to not getting very much out of them this year.

Luckily I now have a great hedge of summer ones in the back garden, which have lots of flowers on so looks like it will be a good crop.

I was very late with planting stuff this year, but am getting there. Runner beans have gone in the ground as have the peas. I also planted carrots which have germinated now. I'll leave them for a few more weeks and then thin them out a bit.

The raspberries are coming on a treat and I have 4 little extra bushes which have self seeded that are growing. Really need to give them to new homes as 1 raspberry bush is quite enough for my garden!! It's just thinking about coming into flower, so I may have a crop by the time we get back off hols.

The strawberries are doing brilliantly too and there are a couple starting to grow already. I have one hanging basket which is the same plants from last year and a hanging basket of new plants which Mum gave me. She has an entire frame of strawberries now in her garden.

I'm growing salad leaves again this year because it was so worth it last year and have rocket, spinach & American land cress coming up.

Forgot about potatoes unfortunately. I loved growing those last year! Got some peppers and tomatoes coming from my Mum because mine didn't germinate.

Not bad for a 5ft square vegetable plot, haha

you could still do some potatoes Kate... They wont get as big, but would still be worth while.

Also you could do some Christmas ones, just think Christmas morning having a rummage for some potatoes and then having them for Lunch!

I have been growing some potatoes this year. Checked them last night and they are like mini forests! Massive plants lol. Will have to take a pic tonight. I am tempted to do more next year, but what it pretty easy to look after other than potatoes?
