Ouch, that's like £720 over the two years. That would buy some seriously rare seriously cool go faster goodies for my car

I love my iPhone muchly. I know it was expensive and there are definitely cheaper alternatives out there, but it does everything I want it to do (decent phone, mobile internet, games, music and video) and I'm happy to pay that cost to get everything I wanted in one package. I used to hate carrying a phone and iPod at the same time and only having one device is definitely the way to go for me.

Depends how much you want to pay for that iphone over its contract you could save about £200 by just looking at the htc hero for instance, personally i think the sensible choice is android especially over the next coming 18/24 months, apple are much more likely to leave you behind or charge you for updates whereas android is all about its open nature...
Just for instance you could get the HTC (Hero) Tattoo with vodafone £35 pcm for 18months Free Phone 600 mins unlimited text unlimited landline unlimited internet Total over contract is £540 £25 pcm for 24 months Free phone 75 mins 250 texts unlimited internet Total over contract is £510 And ontop of both of those you get £90 cashback if you go through with quidco |

Hmm quite like the idea of the latter deal. What does the iPhone do that the HTC can't do? I know nothing about the HTC

Unless you know someone that has an iPhone/Hero then I think your best course of action would be to go in store and mess around with one for a while. Even if one is "better" it might not be to your personal taste.

On the hero note my friend just got a deal with 3 literally today, 18 month contract free hero £24.xx pcm about 3000 texts 1500 mins and unlimited internet, thats a ruddy bargain if you ask me, much more so than an iPhone. But it would seem i'm slightly biased even though i have an iPhone in my possession (freebie) and honestly can't see what all the fuss is about though myself... Credit where its due its a decent phone but not really any better than the android equivalent especially when you take into account total money involved; but i am a stingy b****** |

Touch Pro2 is too much of a brick for my liking. I had a TyTN which I think is similar size/weight if not slightly smaller. I can tell you that an iPhone/Hero is eminently more pocketable though don't get me wrong - it's a great phone (I was going to get one before I had my falling out with Windows Mobile).
Daz has a Hero (you'll get far more opportunity to play with one from a friend than you will in a shop) |
