Won't you need to let the insurance assessors see it in the damaged state before you start repairing it? I presume/hope the driver did have insurance.

You'd think so Jhadur but my insurance didn't say owt & specifically asked me if I wanted to take it to my local garage & get it fixed myself.
I'll be taking loads of pics & keeping all the bent bits, receipts, paperwork etc I just don't want to wait for them to pull there finger out & take months when I can get it back on the road within a week or two. If the bike is left in storage for 3-6 months it will need untold work to get it back to where it is now. I honestly only want my bike back as it was, The claim for injurys & my leathers/helmet etc is seperate. I only want back what I've lost. |

Glad to hear you are okay. This is what I don't like about bikes, you just aren't as safe as in a car.
I should get a quote for the repair work before you start. You don't have to get it done but the insurance may well ask for a quote at some point.

Had a letter from the Guys insurance today with a number to ring so I rang them. He's admitted blame & they are swinging there process into action, Next step is an engineer coming out to have a look at the bike. I have spoke to a couple of local Bike shops/repairers & they have said they will charge/invoice to inspect the bike, All agree it will be a financial write off without even seeing it as the hourly rate/New parts etc will go well over the cost of replacement.
I told His insurance company on the phone this & he agreed which is why the engineer is coming out rather than getting quotes at this stage. I don't want to rince the **** out of the company & can't see why the bill should go up 2 to 3 hundred quid on quotes just for the sake of it. If the engineer comes out & agrees total loss then job done & they'll save money. Then I'll buy the bike & repair it myself as I am not under the same obligation as the insurance company & can use 2nd hand parts & my own labour. Like i said earlier I just want my bike back as it was. |

Hire bike arrived.
4 stroke knacker. It makes no noise at all couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding & only does about 65-70 flat out. On a plus note though I went out & rode the exact same route as my accident & it didn't faze me one bit. I don't think I'm 'ard I know I ******* am. + + I'm also pretty much healed apart from a strain around my groin & some sharp pain to my right hand under certain conditions. HERP DERP + |

Engineer came round to assess the damage today, He reckons it'll be a total loss & I'll hear by the end of the week, Seems a bit quick to me.
Anybody had a cut & dry claim like mine who can let me know how long it took. In all my years I've never had a single claim before. but |

Crashed my car on the Monday, got written off on the Wednesday. So it was pretty quick for me.
That was a very clear cut case though as to who was to blame (me) so probably helped.
