The thing with American TV is, if it doesn't make any money then they cancel it but if it does they keep it going for years till its lost all shape of its original context.
Even Heroes is turning into the same, bring in new people, stretch something happening for a season and leave a twist in for the next season. |

There are a few exceptions cheets, notably the X-Files, which maintained the same storyline, despite the case somewhat changing for the final two (though not to the detriment to the show).
Shows like The Sopranos, The Shield and even Buffy and Angel maintained their integrity, with Buffy becoming somewhat of a classic for it's progression through childhood as well as the classic, 'Big Bad' coming in at the end. |
