Can I be controversial and say Coldplay's first album was the best, and by the 3rd they'd started to run out of ideas?

Think my fav has to be The Hardest Part but the last three songs are just wickedly good! Quote:
First album was probably their best in terms of being raw and non-commercialised. X&Y is probably my favourite but it is more commercialised. |

Hmm I know what you mean. The Scientist is good as is Fix You. Coldplay have so many good songs it is very hard to choose a favourite. Have you ever seen the video of the old guy singing Fix You? Was meant to be a duet with another guy, both of whom were suffering heart failure. Unfortunately one of them died before the video was filmed giving the video an extra emotional edge and some of the dead guy's family can be seen in the vid crying.

I tend to agree with Pvt Pyle as in many ways Speed of Sound was Clocks the remix and given the coice I'd listen to Parachutes over X&Y. Clocks is just about the perfect pop song though so I can understand trying to write another like it.

I think Kitten was saying that Clocks and The Scientist were more mature songs and that Parachutes couldn't really match them in that respect.
