OOoh lots of people have picked the last two and Mmm Pi which are the ones I was going to put forward (as I thought they were more commercially viable whilst still remaining quite nerdy)
Athena have the Mmm Pi one and I would like to get more of the "specialised" into their stores as... well.. they're more of a specialised store aren't they Hum hum hum. I think "I love you more than I love my computer" is a deffo... it's now just a toss up between "Hi" and "Memory Malfunction" Hum hum huuuuuum! Fankoo for your help! I have news on the Clintons front buuut it's quite a lengthy news bit (starts off bad but then gets really good ) About to have a bath so will explain when I have time tomorrow! *wubs* |

Okay News!!
Basically week 1 and 3 in stores was superb. Weeks 2 and 4 weren't so good but apparently last week it was poop for everyone. Because of the last figures it meant they couldn't set up an account for me. She was nice and understanding in explaining this as she understood that many of the stores didn't get the cards out til late/didn't have the full range out and also didn't replen when they had sold out of a design (leaving me at a slight disadvantage!) The problem was - the stores they were in weren't the normal test stores so many of them didn't "get" the whole replen and needing to get them out etc. Sadly though she couldn't exactly chase them all up. So. That was the bad news. Good news - she still thinks they're a seller and wants me on board (I think she kind of felt my frustration of the above too) and so... has found a way to do it. She's put me in contact with a publisher who has had an account with them for years and said that if I go through them - they will do the printing, packing, distributing and replen as required... meaning it could stay in Clintons and get launched into a load more stores. It would take the stress off me for printing and delivering - all I would have to do is design and then take a commission of what's sold (and to be honest that's what I have been looking to do for a while!! Being small costs are huge so I think it will even out quite nicely royalties wise). So YAY! Good news one. Good news two. Spoke to the publishers and they sound ace. They're a medium sized business but having been in the industry for donkeys have their feet in many doors - including Asda and Sainsburys (of which Asda has been super keen at taking my stuff on but couldn't due to me being so small). Had a chat to the main chap about this and he said he has a lot in Asda at the moment so I'm convinced we'll be able to get in there by the new year. After seeing the designs too he reckons Sainsburys would be interested as well and has given me all the contact details for them. YAY! So. All in all it's ace. I haven't found out the terms yet but am sure we can figure something decent out (especially if it gets me the exposure of Asda and Sainsburys as well - plus he deals in Australia and America too ) I still have full control of what designs gets put forward as well as pitching - although I think they have a load of sales people too who may be able to spread the word to other independents if I so wish them to. It's just all good. All very very good. I am SO glad I haven't been able to have an account set up tbh! This works out... well.. perfectly So yes! That's what's happening at the moment! Mental still work wise hence why I've been a bit absent this week but hopefully this means it will relieve me of a bit of the leg work and give me more time to worry about designing, which I've felt behind on lately! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! |

Sounds like it's worked out for the best then It's a bit poopy that they think the reason you had low sales was because the stores didn't know what was going on :/ But it soulds like the way forward is a good one, you can just concentrate on designing and let someone else stress about printing and delivery. Win!
