Right boys & girls of our gamer persuasion, I have found a little spare money knocking around and with more and more of my chums Xbox-ing away and a passion for gaming myself, I want to know what all the fuss is about!!
This will obviously be the place containing the fans and the experienced chums.... I have a Wii already - love it, and undertake some gaming across 'teh computer', here's your chance to SELL IT TO ME!! I enjoy RPG, shooters and pretty much anything except football, racing games and the chuff 'film games' that come out following every release at the cinema : Is the Xbox 360 for me? What games will grab me and make me believe my purchase is worthy!? And will this be a console soon outdated within 12months? Jingo

Yes it is the console for you Not that i'm biased, honest
For RPGs: you have Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Eternal Sonata, Infinite Undiscovery, Mass Effect, Fable 2, plus Oblivion and Fallout 3. As well as quite a few coming in the future including FF13 Shooters: Halo 3, Gears of War 2, Call of Duty 4, Dead Space, The Orange Box, Condemned......probably plenty more that others can name better than me It has loads of games you can buy very cheaply, most of the ones I've named already are pretty cheap to buy, meaning there's plenty to do. Games like Viva Pinata are great fun and only cost £5 or so if you look around or don't mind second hand. It won't be outdated in 12 months, afaik there's no plans for the next generation of consoles until 2010.

If you look at the list of 360 games and there is nothing there you'd have to be lying to yourself
I'd definitely recommend one. |

OK Thanks both
Is there anyway of someone kindly explaining the whole Arcade vs Elite etc etc and a happy chappy breakdown of the benefits of each? Also, does anybody have any ideas to some good packages out there please? Might it be worth waiting for Jan sales/Christmas offers?

Arcade - The basic package, just the console, wireless controller and a 256mb memory card.
Premium - As the Arcade, plus a 60gb hard drive and wired headset and ethernet cable. Elite - As the arcade, plus a 120gb hard drive, wired headset, ethernet cable, HDMI cable, and it's nice and black. Out of that lot I'd recommend a premium. The hard drive is essential imo if you want to play any games online or download a number of demoes or arcade games. Plus from Wednesday you can install games on the hard drive making load times faster (usually). The elite looks lovely but isn't worth the extra imo. The best packages for these that I've seen lately have been on game's site but things do change fast. http://www.game.co.uk/Xbox360/Hardware/HardwareBundle/ lists the lot, depends what games you want to start with really Was going to say Blockbuster have a good deal with Fifa 09 and Dead Space for £169.99 but you don't like football games so not much use You could trade it in if you want to go that route though. I wouldn't expect any more price reductions before Christmas, bit hard to tell about Christmas offers. Quote:

Buuy a Premium, its all you need, there is nothing the Elite does which a premium can't apart from have a black casing, no one needs a 120Gb HD in a 360 unless they are d/ling loads of movies. I was tempted purely because it was blackk but ended up getting an Arcade to replace a dead unit, my unit was a very early one and had already been away for a repair
