Right from the start, the way the camera pans through the WB logo is obviously tailored for 3D, there were several panning shots where there seemed to be trees deliberately placed in the very near foreground, and the most gratuitous one of all was the snake eating the camera. I'm sure there were more that I can't remember now. In retrospect they aren't *that* annoying but I'm not a fan of the 3D fad, I see it as a gimmick and don't like directors purposefully changing the way the films are shot just to pander to it. Such films risk looking dated very quickly once the novelty has worn off.

The WB logo is shot in the same manner for every film in the series, and although the Nagini scene was the one that jumped to my mind after reading your comment, I don't feel it would have been shot any different even if 3D was invented; action cut scenes are widespread and used throughout the film industry and have been for decades.

As for the general camera work, it is noticeable that David Yates' direction focusses on recreating the 'tone' of a book rather than the Columbus-we-must-not-do-anything-that-isn't-written-whatsoever approach, with which the harry/hermione dance scene wouldn't be present (one of the key uplift reliefs in my opinion). Removing SteadyCam and railed camerawork gives a much greater sense of experience for the screenplay, and although some may see this as a discomfort, I feel it strikes the right balance of Solemn vs Playful that JKR pens so well in the book.

I absolutely loved it. Very glad I went to see it, even if it was my third attempt at going to see it. And what made it a brilliant experience was that the cinema brought in a White owl into the cinema just before the film started and brought it round for everyone to stroke! Brilliant.

I love things like that Tink; not quite as impressive as hedwig herself, but a lot of people were in costume when I saw it - really adds to the excitable atmosphere and overall experience

Mark - if you have seen all the previous films, then I don't see why you wouldn't understand it; it has been argued that non-fans might find it something of a long-haul, but if you didn't enjoy previous films then I don't see why you'd be going to film 7 anyway!

Then I'd look to do a bit of a film round up before going along - it would be like going to see The Return of the King without seeing the first two LOTR films
