How long do plasmas last versus LCD televisions?

They'll both last a bloody long time. Plasma are far more prone to screen burn though so you need to be more careful with them. TBH, how long they last shouldn't be the factor that makes you choose one over the other.

Well downstairs we have a Panny 500 series 32". It was the dogs bollox in 05 (christmas 05) and was the screen to have. I will of course get a top screen - but I want one that will last for a decent time period as well.
I'm tempted by either the 700 panny LCD or the 37 70 plasma. |

Is most of your viewing SD or HD? Do you want to run a PC through it?
I know your 360 has gone pop, but if you get another one, will you use it on that TV a lot? Basically, if most of your viewing is SD, plasmas are still the better option for picture quality. That's not to say LCD's are bad because they're not. I went for a FullHD LCD because I run the Xbox and PC through it quite a lot. I was happy to lose out on some SD quality for a far bigger gain with my HD devices. It's all a trade off, but only you know what's best for you.

I'll have it hooked up to Virgin V+
360 HD-DVD drive I will watch SD but aslong as the IQ is decent then I have no problems. |

From what I've been reading over the last week, the top LCDs now are pretty much as good as plasmas on SD, I really don't think it's anywhere near as important any more.
