Serpico - Al Pacino, about corrupt cops, set in NY in the early 70s - excellent if a bit dated (now, there IS a surprise)

Black Snake Moan with Samuel L Jackson, Christiana Ricci and Justin Trousersnake.

She plays the small town nympho coming to terms with years of abuse off her parents, Samuel L Plays the eccentric, god fearing, blue's guitarist coming to terms with the death of his wife and Justin T plays the part of the boyfriend in the caustic relationship. After a drink and drug binge and sleeping with her boyfriends best mate, she is left for dead by the road. Lazarus(Samuel L) take her in and so develops a relationship of rehabilitation and trust. Not your typical Samuel L film by any stretch of the imagination. However not bad if there is nothing else on TV.

Loki's Score 6.5/10

Death Race with Jason Statham, Joan Allen and Tyrese Gibson.

A very action packed + gruesome film with a rather new and interesting storyline behind it. Great choice of actors, they all fill their parts very well.
A recommended watch

8.5/10

I loved that film. Sam Jackson's best role since Pulp Fiction for me.

The music is superb though. The 3 songs that Sam Jackson sings himself are the highlights to me. BTW... His wife isn't dead, she left him.

Last film I watched:

War Inc.

Almost a sequal to the best film John Cusack ever made - Grosse Pointe Blank.

Nicked from IMDB

Quote:
A political satire set in Turaqistan, a country occupied by an American private corporation run by a former US Vice-President (Dan Aykroyd). In an effort to monopolize the opportunities the war-torn nation offers, the corporation's CEO hires a troubled hit man (John Cusack), to kill a Middle East oil minister. Now, struggling with his own growing demons, the assassin must pose as the corporation's Trade Show Producer in order to pull off this latest hit, while maintaining his cover by organizing the high-profile wedding of Yonica Babyyeah (Hilary Duff) an outrageous Middle Eastern pop star, and keeping a sexy left wing reporter (Marisa Tomei) in check.
Yup, it's not Iraq at all...honest...

Another film I enjoyed. It's not up there with GPB, but it's a good political satire with some fairly elaborate fight set pieces.

I'd give it a 7/10

I stood corrected

And yes it is his best performance since Pulp Fiction.

I have Black Snake Moan recorded, and also rated Hard Candy. Great acting I thought.

Watched Death Sentence the other day. Kevin Bacon taking revenge for his family and slowly turning from family-guy accountant into ghetto psychopath. Good film, really well shot, but had the feel of being done by two different directors almost. Especially when it turns a bit Natural Born Killers towards the end. John Goodman is superb in his fairly smallish role.

I don't watch a lot of films but, this one, I really want to see. Must remember to get hold of it when I get back.
