I think you can get Kongs in different sizes but if not a golf ball makes a surpringly excellent toy for small dogs, my whippet used to go mad for them - always fun when you live next to a golf course and are trying not to let her run away with the ones people are playing with. Just remember to take them away before they get to the coiled rubber band inners as they'll probably do something nasty in the digestive system.

Oooh not thought of golf balls!
He loves tennis balls already as the socialisation room thingy has a heavily chewed tennis ball that equates to about the same size as his head at the moment

Thanks for the tip

I thought you might have called him Charlie Norris to match the cat.

We now have a little cuddly toy for him, a little giraffe Going to take it with us tomorrow so he can have a play with it, so then when he comes home with us he'll have something familiar.

We've also made a rough plan of what to buy, probably Monday, so that he has plenty of stuff. The list is roughly:
puppy crate (RSPCA recommended it)
bed
bowls
kong toy
chewbone thing
bag of treats (although got to check with the RSPCA about what diet he's on at the moment but should be ok)
collar and tag
leash (getting the extending type)
possibly a teething toy thingy
tennis ball
food (but waiting to see what the RSPCA has him on)

Think that's it, I know we have a list somewhere as we went around so I might have forgotten something

You might already have something suitable but you might want to think about a brush for his coat as well. If you don't already then saving the small plastic bags that you get from supermarkets for vegetables is worthwhile for poop scooping, saves you buying what is basically the same thing.

On his tag, only put a contact number or address. I'm sure you know that already though.
