All my mates hate sunshine but i think its one of the finest science fiction movies ever made. Does that make it a rubbish movie that i have a soft spot for or do my friends have rubbish taste?

I don't know, a lot of rubbish films that people like have a sort of Cult following. Sunshine strikes me as a bit of a slow burner in that respect. Never seen it, but it's a real 50/50 movie, love or hate.

Thing about sunshine is its ridiculous, things like them flying that close to the sun just seem impossible... but then i consider that in 1984 when i was born iirc there were less than 3000 internet enabled devices in the world, so i guess anything is possible in that sort of time frame. He keeps it smart by never actually saying what year they're in, it could be in 5 yrs time, or it could be several centuries from now so technically no one can scoff and say 'that's just impossible', as no one will rightfully know.
It just annoys me that peoples criticisms are that its too unrealistic. It's sci-fi for christs sake? Don't see anyone going on about how unrealistic Star Trek is.

Apart from the CGI attack, I wanted to eat my own eyeballs cooked in Toilet Duck after watching that.
Therefore, good call, Mondo!!

I think my contribution would be an old Mel Gibson film called "Payback," one of those cheesy films you turn your brain off before hand and sit back for a laugh. Mmmmm lucy liu
