Is this correct? After having cancelled my contract with Orange, I've since been charged £34.27. I've not had a bill through the post and my normal monthly charge was only £30. Have I been charged for the cancellation period of 30 days?

It does look like it. Vodafone did the same thing to me but apologised for an 'administrative error' when I called to query it.

So it's worth giving them a buzz to get it back? Or at least get an explanation. Normally you pay a contract in advance don't you? So I would have already paid the cancellation period last month.

If you were near the end of the billing month when you cancelled, that would do it.

Well I cancelled on the 8th and I remember my contract was going to end on 24th January so I guess my billing date was the 24th?

You have, you need to cancel just before your billing date. They tried to sting me for a port charge, but got that back.
