Maybe a little on ebay, but not substantially, and not until it's out over here anyway (a date for which hasn't been announced).

If you keep an eye on Amazon.de, you can get a premium for ~£200 with the exchange rate. Cores even cheaper if you can be arsed sourcing your peripherals afterwards (the only real one you need to function is the hard drive, but all the wireless gubbins are nice to have).

Never thought about getting one in from another country. Is it OK to do that? No problems with warranty, power supplies or region coding, etc?

So long as you buy in Europe you'll have no problem with region coding, and you'll need a 3pin power lead, but just your standard kettle jobbie will do.

See here for the last time the price dropped, and people who took advantage

Thanks for the thought though

It's not so much the money right now, it's the priorities. We need to make sure stuff for the house is bought first, then the Xbox can arrive

The reference settings really do make a difference on VGA, but I never had any colour washing problems on component. Fwiw I have mine set on intermediate, not enhanced, as it's just too rich then - too dark in the darks. It needs comparing now on the new dash really.

Demo of Blacksite was released today:

Never heard of it before, but I'll have a punt at the demo after seeing that trailer. Looks quite cool.
