cats are better. But tbh would prefer no pets like that. You can't just go away for a weekend. Have to organise people to look after it, and especially with dogs what do you do during the day.
Although saying that if a partner wanted one, I would be Ok with it.

It's much easier to sort out arrangements for 'babysitters' than you'd think. And cats are just fine on their own for a weekend, even a week - either mum or next door pop in and feed them. Sally dog is fine on her own in the day. She has toys, chews and just sleeps most of the day. Each animal is different.

Rosie isn't fussed about us going away, though she's a lot more affectionate when we return even if it's just been an overnight break.
All she needs is someone to look in on her every day to put food down and possibly empty the litter tray every few days. We've got at least 3 people who utterly adore her and jump at the opportunity, strangely enough.
