I'll make a deal with you Matt. Don't buy a car until you have driven mine. Its nearly on 100k now and still feels as sharp and still put out the same bhp it did the day it left the factory.

How many other cars can you say that about?

If I changed my car now, I would be looking at:

BMW 330 Cdi - Fun, Fast, expensive
Renault Laguna 1.9tdi - Really Comfy, reasonable economy, French build quality
Audi A4 2.7 quattro Diesel - Fun, Fast, Expensive

Sorry, no dice, I like my small cars and having driven a couple of larger ones I am going to stick with hatchbacks. As for BMWs well I have my heart set on one now

I think the Mini is probably classless which to be honest is much more me, in some ways it has a similar feel to VW in that anyone can drive one, its as much about the cars image than the owners which when your me is probably a good thing

Sod class, I'll take fun over class everytime, driving the Mini made me realise I'm not the old duffer I thought I was

Nope I like the real mini. They were awesome cars. The new one frankly is just an image / trying to be retro / joke of a car. They handle well and are "ok" to drive (well the "S" is anyway), but it really does nothing for me at all. There are a stack of better cars out there, the 172 is a far better car than the BMW Mini.

The real mini is not made by BMW.

The new one is a reasonable car, but really not my cup of tea - looks wise, or driving wise. Each to their own and all that. After all you don't like Alfas - so not everyone has perfect taste.

I just don't think it should have been called the Mini - though actually it's not officially, they aren't allowed to call it that.

Oh don't get me wrong it's not a bad car, but other than a slightly better interior, I feel the 172 is a bit more of a macho car and just as competent as the mini. Round a track I still reckon the 172 would be ahead, well the cup certainly would. I don;t think it would be a step up, but maybe a side step, which is not a bad thing - but there's something even less macho about the BMW Mini than my car!

Now if the interior of the Megan Trophy wasn't so horrid, I'd have suggest that he goes for that - because that IS an awesome car.

Your tastes aren't impeccable if I compare them to mine, they are individual and you stick by them and aren't a sheep and for that I can but bow my hat to you. However we do share a lot of other tastes, so it's just a bit of diversity which is always welcomed, and brings on banter like this, plus the fact you're a ****

The mini isn't less macho than yours I'm afraid dude. They're both competent cars, but yours is girlier IMO.

However, as you say, opinions. They're like ****holes, everyone's got one
Oh I agree the BMW Mini is better built for sure.

To me the BMW Mini looks girlier - but I have a different perception on things to you However if I were to wear my pink t-shirt, put on gilbert & sulivan operettas, and wear make up I'd agree with you I wouldn't pull it off so well. With me in my car though it oozes masculinity like it's going out of fashion
