A worst case scenario is the main box is banned so you buy a cheap Core unit and swap your HDD and other stuff over. Keep the premium for offline backup play only.

If I ever softmodded mine that's exactly what I'd do. It does seem that MS are more on the ball with this than anyone else has been though, so definitely be careful

Why not? Not that I'd care anyway. Isn't all that info saved on the HDD?

It's linked to the gamertag, on the 360 itself it will show up as achievements, but no one else can see unless you put the 360 online which I'm guessing is what MS are clamping down on?
If you're able to put the 360 online just for a few seconds then you'll have the achievements show up though. I just played a game of the Halo 3 beta, it felt quite dull tbh :/ Wasn't playing with friends so hopefully that helps but it just didn't really interest me. I managed to get second too which was a bit odd as I'd forgotten the Halo controls at first.

I thought I'd be like that, but they can be fun from a competitive point of view
As Jen said, it's all tied to the gamertag. If you cant sign into live then the unlocked achievments would never unlock. Only possibly way round it I could see, if you have 2 xboxs, is to keep your profile on a memory card and sign in on the 'good' console. Or maybe move the hard drive round.

Ah right, so you could still build your achievements offline but nobody else would be able to see them as you're not on live.

On a better note, Sinead has phoned and there's a red posty card at home so I might nip out and collect it in the morning unless she had time today

This is has been the one reason why I never did it. Friends have said it'll be fine and you can flash it back if MS find out but given the success they had with the Xbox there was no way I wanted to risk my account. At least it is only boxes that they block.
