nah mate, kicking the thai pads is a good way to harden them. tbh sparing with shinpads takes alot of the pain out of it

So after my worrying there was no sparring this week but he has said he will be bringing the extra gloves and stuff for next week :/ I still really do not want to do it, it just doesn't interest me and I would rather not take part :/ The class advertises "optional light sparring" so I am hoping I can speak to Dale and just do some extra pad work or something instead.

Tonight's class was good fun. We did some very painful stretching (discovered my left leg can bend a hellova lot more than my right) and lots of kicking sets, we also did more pad work which is probably still my favourite part of the class and I feel I get a good workout from that part too.

I have been getting very sniffy the past couple of days and thought that I had the beginnings of a cold but I've been ignoring it with the hopes my body will realise I don't want to be ill, instead it has decided that it is going to give me a sinus infection and since about 4pm I've been feeling like I've been punched in the nose (much to Dale's amusement). At least I know now how hard it is to concentrate on hitting and kicking and reacting when your eyes are watering and your whole face is burning in pain.

Ouch, you poor thing The main issue I have when I get sinus problems is that I lose my sense of balance and I feel really dizzy if I move my head too fast or bend over etc. It's bloody horrible. Hope you get better soon.

sparing is great, i bet if you tried it, you would love it.

getting hit hard in the nose is the worst bit. at our gym people generally avoid hitting each other in the nose as it hurts, but if you get hit hard somewhere a nose punch usually is enough to mkae them think twice about bullying you

like i say people wont really hit you in the nose, but if you are worried about head shots, a full face gaurd with nose protector like this one would be perfect and avoid you getting your lovely nose hurt

A few people have said that but I'm just not convinced :/ Nothing about it appeals to me :/ What is odd is that I have no problems having a go at 6'6''+ bloke in a mosh pit (without alcofrol before anyone implies it) but don't want to take part in sparring in a semi controlled environment I don't make sense even to me

Oh and "lovely nose" made me lol

Before I did my first sparring I was REALLY nervous. I thought everyone would be watching and I'd just stand there and not know what to do.

I got twatted in the nose which did hurt but it was more a shock than anything and whilst I did forget quite a bit of the technique, I did keep moving, kept it going and really enjoyed it

I did Muay Thai tonight and I love it very muchly.

I escaped the sparring again There were 4 new people in the class today (1 of which will definitely not be back) so Dale said he'd hold off the sparring for another week or so. I won't be going next week and I think I'm actually going to miss it
