In my case triple wouldn't make any odds either. Worst case just turn off 3G and find a hotspot. At least on O2 all the BT ones are included.
It's a pain having to live without data for a few weeks on a 'connected' phone, but it is possible. £6/MB soon brings some perspective. |

had a read of the o2 blog last night and honestly i'm suprised by the stance they're taking.
0.1% are using 30odd percent of their data use. only 3% are currently running over 500meg. i use mine LOADS and recon i hit about 40-50 meg a month just because in work or at home im on wifi. oh and the big bad bit, what happens when you go over 500meg a month? they slow you down. don't charge you, don't cut you off completly. and if you want more data you can add a bolt on.

i can't tell if you're surprised because it seems like a sensible stance for O2 to be taking or because you disagree with it.
If the 500MB cap isn't going to affect 97% of users, and actually improve their network speed/availability by gimping the 0.1% who take the piss and the 3% who are heavy users then it gets my support. I don't see the slowdown option being bad either. As before it won't affect 97% of users at all and will still allow the heavy users to access stuff (albeit more slowly) or pay to get a bit extra to get back up to normal speeds. It seems completely level headed and sensible to me as it has no negative impact on the vast majority of users and even for heavy users doesn't have any hidden charges. Or am I missing something here?

I've done nearly 5gb in 2 years. Averages about 200mb / month. Should be ok. I doubt I'll be using Spotify that much over 3G but who knows.

Slowdon? Probably not as much as turning 3G off. Which I do often if I don't need the likes of Google Maps. Sure, I might get frustrated by slowness sometimes but mostly it's perfectly usable.
Slow down for a few > slow down for everyone. Works for me anyway. |

The idea of O2 slowing down their already hideously woeful 3G speeds gives me further need to port my number away.

Yeah coverage is more of an issue than speed. Or at least it was when I was in Sheffield. Not been so bad over in Chester & Manchester thankfully

If not then it should result in better network speeds... I'm failing to see why anyone has a problem with the proposal...

I was apprehensive about the cap till I checked my consumption (albeit 2g not 3g) then realised it's not really a problem for me Guess I use wi-fi a lot more than I originally thought!
