How long would the download take? You posted at 5.15 so you would probably have started before 5

That would depend on the speed of the connection

MB

The download from xbox.com is about 8MB iirc, so not big.

Liking it so far, some cute little touches, and some really useful ones. I like the marketplace blade and interface, I like the fact I'm now signed in before I hit the dash, I like the new 'joinable' icon on the friends list and I like the 'my friends are playing' thing on the arcade interface. There's a new 'reference' setting for VGA and that's really helped with some colour washing.

Only bad thing so far is that it's broken tversity's video support, so no convenient download access until they fix it (though they're working on it right now).

Q: I don’t want to automatically sign in to Live Messenger on my console…how do I turn it off?
A: Sign in to Xbox LIVE, go to the Xbox LIVE blade, then select your gamercard and press A. Go down to ‘Auto Sign-in’ and press A. You can set your preference for Xbox Live and Windows Live Messenger separately here.

I'm hoping they work out a fix for changing email addresses for it. I'm mildly envious now of you lot being able to sign onto messenger from the 360

Q: The email address assigned to my Xbox LIVE account is different to the email address I use on my PC for Windows LIVE messenger. Is there a way for me to still access my messenger account?
A: Not at this time. We are working on the ability to allow users to change the email address they originally used when signing up for Xbox Live. The feature will be available in an upcoming release.
So hopefully.

It's actually going to be reasonably useful for me. Every night, when I normally put the laptop on, I sign into messenger. Then, when it switches user to Dee, I stay signed on in the background. People message me and think I'm ignoring them

Least this way I can see if someone wants me
