Mothers Day - Page 2

Don't get me wrong, I'm not advocating some kind of ban on saying thanks to all the Mum's out there. Mine lets me live at home, that in itself is worthy of considerable gratitude.. I just don't get why we need to all go through the motions on a particular day. It becomes an exercise in sales and marketing, and for a lot of the high street stores Mothers Day is a just a bumper weekend where they can clear more stock and sell crap that otherwise they probably couldn't shift as fast.. By all means, people should make a big effort from time to time, I just don't see why the likes of the card and gift companies should dictate it for us.

Oh my god! I am not throwing her a fricking parade! I am getting a photo printed for her to say how much I love her! Was only looking for like minded ideas

Sorry, I did add a message to my first post that said I like your photo. I missed it out copying it from Word into the little box though... I spell check my posts, 'cos I am sad.

Lol we must have posted at the same time! However I then researched and realised it's a Pagan thing dating back to 'who knows when'

No doubt I'll now forget about this till the day before and panic buy some random thing for her along with a card. I'm useless at remembering stuff like birthdays and the like, so normally need someone to remind me.

Ought to add that I got my mum one of these and a copy of this, so I am guilty of the exact thing I am critical of..

Anyway, who says that just because we choose to do something nice on Mother's Day means that we don't do it at other times during the year? Hmmm? I know I do! My Mum is absolutely fantastic, and this is just another excuse for me to tell her so.

I'll cooking the parents (& probably brother) a lovely slap-up 3 course meal and giving her a big bunch of flowers. I know that's what she'll appreciate over anything else. Making her a card too

That's in addition to rebuilding her computer and making her an apron from the leftover of the fabric she used on the kitchen curtains... which I was doing for her anyway because I'm an awesome daughter

I do a little something extra for my mum on this occasion.

We see my Parents infrequently due to distances involved etc, so when we do get together we always do special things and maximise our time together.
