For this Mothers Day, Ive decided to get a photo of mine printed and framed:

Not the best one Ive ever done Ill admit, but my ma loves her flowers (ex florist) and I know she'll like it

Whats everyone else doing?

I walked past a florist today and saw some potted plants that looked really nice, but i think my mum would just prefer a day off. Might get her some new jumpers, she likes jumpers.

I've never understood Mother's Day. Why do people need to wait for Clinton Cards or WH Smiths to tell them to show some gratitude to their parents? Its exactly the same as Valentines Day. "Hmmm, looks like everyone else is taking this one day of the year as an opportunity to think about someone else for a change and do something romantic for my other half, or for someone who I think is special. Perhaps I'd better jump on the bandwagon, for fear of being outed as a non-believer and ostracised from society, destined to live out the rest of my days as a hermit."

Mothering Sunday wasn't invented by the card shops though....

Quote:
Mothering Sunday in the UK is the equivalent of Mother's Day in other countries.
It has been celebrated in the UK on the fourth Sunday in Lent since at least the 16th century. For a long time, it has been a day for giving thanks for all the things our mothers do for us.
Mothering Sunday is always the fourth Sunday of Lent.

Isn't it a Christian thing rather than something designed by a card company?? Something to do with the Mother Church?? /tries to remember the brainwashing at school...

Edit - oh, surprise surprise, we celebrated it first, and it's to do with Mother Earth and Nature. Nowt new there then

I've always celebrated it as it means a lot to my mum, and especially now we live far away from each other.
