Received this via e-mail and thought it might be something which would be worth posting here.

I am writing to you to ask that you support a campaign to fund and extremely promising drug which has already proved in experiments to kill human cancer cells. It is likely to work for most if not all cancers. This may potentially be a cure.

All reports advise that the drug costs next to nothing to produce and is well tolerated by cancer sufferers than is the case for normal chemotherapies. The sting in the tail is that drug companies are refusing to fund the research or its production because they cannot patent it nor make any profits. This really is a case where profits come before saving human life.

There is a dedicated website to the research in to this drug where you will find all the information regarding this drug and it's potential. Please also visit the official DCA website: http://www.depmed.ualberta.ca/dca/. There are articles from respected science journals such as New Scientist and Cancer Cell magazine. I have approached my MP and she has raised DCA with one of the health ministers and has requested that the government fund the development of the drug.

The more we campaign and the more pressure we put on our respective governments to fund this drug, the less likely this drug will fail due to lack of funding. I am absolutely sure that the drug companies would want to bury this drug as they currently earn millions from their existing drugs and DCA would have a tremendous impact on their profits should it prove to be effective.

What you can do: Where ever you are, put pressure on your elected representatives. Please sign the petition launched on the Prime Minister's website http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/DCA-trial/. When submitting your details, you will be sent an email from Number 10 and you MUST click on the link which appears on the email which will send you back to the petition and your name will be added to the petition. Also contact news papers and give DCA the fresh air of publicity. The more people know about the drug the less likely it will die. That's all I can think of for now. Any other ideas will be most welcome.

I'm always slightly wary of things like this.

I'll have a read of the links tonight when I get home and see how plausible it sounds then.
