I didn't like Azureus when I tried it recently so I went back to ABC. Glad I did now that I've read this.

Ok I've done a quick bit of digging and I can't find anything to support this. There's nothing in the Azureus changelog about Vuze. Its not listed as a plugin. There's nothing on Digg about this either. Vuze is basically Azureus 3 and if you want you can still get v2. Unless you've got a real source to back this up I'm sticking with Az.

Will Azureus send a list of what I download to other people?

No! As mentioned before, the source code is available on Sourceforge, so if you're not happy to take our word for it, go and check it out.

The Vuze UI will check for updates of the metadata (thumbnail, title, rating, etc) of Vuze content. The classic UI does not. Vuze does not store these new metadata requests anywhere. It simply reads the request and returns the metadata.. much like how winamp brings up track info about the CD you are playing.

You are correct Pete and from my opening post this is my own opinion in the matter and that Azureus states this is currently not happening. Now since Azureus is looking to tie in with bbc distributing films and the other film industries.I am going back to dec 2006 when this was announced
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/6194929.stm

Now I have no proof and this is purely my cynical nature behind this, but since when has a p2p software tied in with a major label and not then monitored the network?

I do understand what you're saying. I remember when the guy who ran Supernova joined up with the big companies then launched his new torrent network. No-one I knew would touch it. However, since Az is open source I do feel that the minute there was proof of this it would be big news. As long as you don't switch to Az3 and stick with 2.x I think you'll be fine.

Use bitcomet, looks and feels the same as Azureus but no Java needed and works just as well if not better.
