Default Linux help

Right, my media pc is all built and it boots up Only problem is, I downloaded the files for linuxmce but I can't them as an image onto a cd I open up nero and click the burn image button, only there is nothing coming up even though the all the files are there. Is there something I need to do with all the files to make an iso image in the first place or am I being really special?

Wait, you downloaded an .iso image which contains the bootable LinuxMCE installer, right? I don't see why Nero wouldn't burn it. Perhaps you could try ImgBurn.

Sorted it, winrar had decided that it was a good idea to make me think they were .rar files I had downloaded not .iso files solution. Delete winrar

Of course I would figure this out after I had installed XP and got most of the updates

Gave up on Linux, tried it and didn't like it shame really, need to spend more time playing around with it and learning about linux in general before moving to it fully.

it's definately one it takes a little getting used to. I was reasonably good with linux but it still took a little getting to using it full time when i switched jobs.. Now i wont look back if i can help it, if for no other reason than everything i need or want is in the repositories..

It's like any other os i guess, windows included, you just have to get used to the quirks.

I've been through so many OSes in my time they all end up feeling the same to me now (t'is why I'm a bit of a console monkey). Even though I'd written device deivers at college I still had some odd phobia of kernel compiles though for reasons unknown. Gentoo fixed that.

I now kinda wished I had given it a proper go. I can't get my wireless pci adapter working under vista 64bit stupid lazy linksys techs, still haven't got round to releasing the drivers yet, 32bit is there but can't use them on a 64 bit machine
