Default CCNA

Just been having a chat with my boss and he's told me that I am being put forward for CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) training

Anyone had any experience of the training?

I was certified (expired last year). Did it over the course of 18 months and properly did the case study in semester 4 - quite enjoyed it, learned a lot.

A friend of mine has just finished his. A lot of work (or so he says!) but he is glad he did it.

I'm still certified, runs out in October. I did version 4 I think it was.. I believe you're now on a later version than that which goes even deeper than my CCNA did so they could introduce a new lower level qualification. Its good, worthwhile and meant I actually understood networking rather than "lights blink here and here thats good"

I now have a few 2950s, an 871W and a 1760 to fiddle with. Not going to do any certifications I don't think but they are a good thing to have experience with.

Well the studying should be mostly home learning as I work from home but I gather there will be a few seminars at Bedfont Lakes Cisco offices. Seeing as they own us I may as well abuse the position

Not sure how useful CCNA will be straight away but from what I know is coming in IPTV over the next couple of years this could be potentially VERY useful knowledge to be up to date on
