Help! Installing XP - Which updates?
I'm installing a not so legal copy of XP on my uncle's computer for him, but I've completely forgotten which Service Packs etc. that I can update without the computer locking up on me.
I can't remember who gave me this copy, but I think it was someone on here. It says WIN XP PRO & WIN XP PLUS PACK on the CD. Anyone? Help would be muchly appreciated. Ta

You can go ahead and install pretty much everything I think. Just don't download the Genuine Advantage Notification update, or whatever it's called.

Shame that the hack I sent Kate was foiled by her uncle

Yes I have brought a Genuine copy, however it is OEM version, not retail version. And that was 1 build ago on a version 1 of ASUS MoBo I had, as I currently have Version 2 of the said MoBo. So as far as MicroSoft are concern is has now become an illegal copy ! !
Before I did the rebuild I phoned MS to ask this very question. They told me I could do one MoBo change only, and if it was for a fault / failure of the MoBo. However when I phone MS to mention to them that I had changed the MoBo ( to to a fault of course ) I was then informed I was NOW using an illegal copy of XP ! MS can make the rules as they go along !

Genuine Advantage is fine (assuming it says you're OK - meh), it's Genuine Advantage Notification that's a PITA. All my installs are Genuine yet even I won't install it. Stupid thing.
