How long have you been 'connected'?

While clearing out a pile of professional computing mags from the early-mid 90s (Dr. Dobbs Journal mostly), I found a 'Compuserve Guide to Getting Online' dated circa February 1996. I'm not sure if I actually 'got online' then or before that, but its still 12 years ago. I've been 'connected' in some way or other almost without interruption since then. Scary.

So, when did you start your online presence, be it Compuserve/AOL, some dial-in BBS or MMORPG system (remember those?), or even the internet? Can you remember what it was that got you hooked?
