Spec me an iron

As I now have a job where I am encouraged to wear a shirt rather than dress like a slob I need a new iron, at the moment I am leaning towards a steam generator rather than a traditional hand iron, does anyone have any recommendations?

Don't get one with a funny shaped base plate on it. Makes ironing a shirt an absolute nightmare. Just go for a regular iron shaped bottomed iron if that makes sense.

Can't really help you MB. I thought ours was quite good but I'm now having doubts.

We either have: Incredibly crud bed clothes and some stupid shirts that just do not ever want to iron or a not-so-good-iron.

Erk. Just remembered I am supposed to be ironing this afternoon.

Ahhh well, tis the evening now. THe moments passed.

My mum spent a load of money on a steam generator after a quick succession of broken irons, she swears by it now, and would definitely spend good money on a good iron again.

Me personally, i don't really even iron at all

Me neither but I'd certainly agree with a good steam generator being the best option at a sensible price.

It's the only way to be sure you're doing the right thing.

I have your basic iron that gets hot and has water inside it, I've never used one of those ones with the bizarre water base thing that it sits on, so can't comment but I've never had any issues with ironing a nice going out shirt when I've needed to.
